- Automobile-pedestrian bridge in cooperation with "The creative workshop of the Garanins brothers "
From the very beginning, the territory of the former "Sickle and Hammer" plant was planned to be turned into a new urban oasis, making a continuation of greened public areas along the Yauza and Lefortovo Park. The park areas in the new complex are allocated 40% of the total building area (more than 29 hectares), and according to the concept, which won the international competition, the district was to cross the "green river" - a boulevard 2 km long, on the undulating axis of which the majority of quarters and public spaces of the complex. Not without reason in 2016 "Symbol" topped the rating of the greenest metropolitan LCDs according to the analysts of the Urban Awards. After the design of ATRIUM architects of the 1st stage of the residential development of "Symbol", the logical continuation of cooperation with the company "Donstroy" was the project of this "green river" and the landscape solution of the whole complex.
It all started with a car-pedestrian bridge: the territory of the five buildings, designed by ATRIUM, divided by the "river", was to divide the intra-quarter passage, and the relief difference assumed only the bridge. And together with the "Garanin Brothers' Creative Workshop" an unusual decision was born: the bridge is a continuation of the park - both from above and from below. Beneath the bridge, the boulevard dives, and the space beneath it begs to be turned into a "city living room" protected from bad weather. On both levels are shops and cafes surrounding houses. Eleven pillars of the bridge (their height from 3.5 to 4.5 meters, and diameter - about 3 meters) at the same time serve as improvised "pots" for real rowan and climbing grapes: mountain ash will sprout upward, and grapevines - down. On the bridge, in this way, a real alley will appear, and the pedestrian paths form along them a winding scenic route (unlike the road that will be the shortest straight line).
Drawing this concept of intersection of two green themes - a boulevard with dense vegetation and a rowan alley along the bridge - set the whole work on the overall design of the complex's landscape. The visual landscape code was based on the smooth lines of the facades and the graphic character of the logo of the LCD "Symbol". If the structure of the park is built on a system of convergent and divergent, like an unevenly stretched fishing net, the paths, then the streets of the complex are united by a pattern of intersecting circles, as rippling from the rain: this free and adaptive structure completely destroys the remnants of visually straight sections of streets.
The street zones are assembled from round modules of several types, including small architectural forms, and are "coded" by the color of the paving: in the black (for cars), gray or beige paving stones on the transit roads, brick red (house entrances) or orange-yellow semicircles entrances to cafes and supermarkets). In the center of each "circle" is a lantern or a tree. In the same place where streets and the park intersect, key public areas are created. Visually landscaped territories will work to solve the main task - to create a diverse urban landscape.
