The art installation "Development" demonstrates new possibilities for using technologies and materials in architecture and raises the question of how it will look and be created in the near future.
The installation consists of three parts: an abstract form and a manifesto, the meaning of which each viewer will determine for themselves, and a video about the process of creating a structure from an image to manufacturing and construction.
At the first stage, we used the parametric form generation method and chose from a variety of options the one that would reveal the aesthetic potential of the material (aluminum profile) in artistic embodiment, and also met the implementation possibilities (weight and dimensions of the structure, stability, assembly process).
Using software, we optimized and prepared a production task, where machines cut the profile and drilled holes to connect the elements. Our creative team developed a special application for a tablet that allows you to assemble this structure in augmented reality absolutely without drawings. This technology helped to bring to life a sculpture of more than 200 unique elements arranged at different angles.
Manifesto:
"Each form develops from the simple to the complex. This is the result of its effective and functional adaptation to external factors and dominant criteria. Sometimes this process gives birth to forms that are amazing in their diversity and sophistication. Simple elements can build complex structures in which the whole ceases to be equal to the sum of the parts and carries a new quality. This is the meaning of development."
