Memamorphosis Residential Complex
Preobrazhenskaya Square is a residential complex in the eastern district of Moscow. The main task of the project was to complete the development of Preobrazhenskaya Square and close it from the north. Thus, we aimed to create a contextual background for the existing eclectic architectural environment with the main dominant of the square - the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord. The planning structure of the complex maintains the quarter principle but transforms it, adding quality to the living and public environment by creating variability in various aspects - in terms of forms, facades, heights, public spaces, and layouts.

Diversity is primarily realized in the combination of two parts of development with different types of facades within one complex.
The same principle is followed by the visual language that defines the architecture of the buildings. In our solutions, we wanted to reflect our approach to architecture - accepting the complexity and diversity of the world by rethinking old design approaches and creating new interesting solutions.
The frontal houses with columns demonstrate a complex form and create a bright and unique image of the entire complex. The strict and structured grid of columns is deformed and curved, reflecting the non-linearity of representation and perception. Such active plasticity creates new impressions even for residents of the quarter. At the same time, the complex shape of the buildings allows for a diverse range of apartment layouts - residents will be able to find the perfect format for themselves.
The inner-quarter development is designed more restrainedly but is also composed of sections of various sizes and heights. We used architectural techniques, and by breaking down the form of the sectional buildings of the new development, we created a sense of a more scaled and diverse urban environment.
An important urban planning decision for creating a comfortable stay for residents inside the quarter was the creation of a pedestrian street that connects the two lines of development. Located near the metro and offering many opportunities for street retail, it becomes a point of attraction, a place for residents to socialize and adds value to the entire area. The environment is suitable for those looking for peace and solitude - a quiet and cozy atmosphere is created inside the courtyards.
In the courtyard space above the underground parking, there is a "green roof" with landscaping and greenery. Walkways and small architectural forms such as benches and arbors with trees, shrubs, and flower beds complement the space for walks and relaxation for residents of the quarter. Street retail is available on the ground floors - shops, cafes, restaurants, pharmacies, office spaces, and gyms. Along the quieter street, 1st Bukhvostova, a plot is allocated for an educational complex, which is a complement to the residential complex integrated into the urban fabric.
