Vodnyi retail and business complex
The tower of multifunctional complex “Vodny” is a recognizable mark of one of the microrayons on the north of Moscow. The site is situated next to metro station “Vodny stadion” and was a part of an abandoned industrial zone for the last decades. So there was some discord, as areas near to metro stations are buzziest places in the city, and this potential wasn’t used. This building is also seen from one of the main city radial highway, leading to Sheremetyevo airport. So it was good to create an interesting notable tower like a milestone of the road.

Two blocks: retail and offices were combined in one complex. Both are modeled as they contain few really different spaces. The office tower is presented as a city sculpture which consists of few interacting volumes. It was achieved by making terraces and overhanging some floors. The elements are accentuated with graphic of window bars (about 30 cm width), and it is a slap to the structural frame of the façade. It gives shades on the south-west of the building and on the opposite side, but also contours two other facades.
The horizontal block contains several functional zones: anchor supermarket, multiplex, about 120 different retailers, restaurants, open food court and a parking, which can be used by shoppers and neighborhood residents who can rich metro by car and then make a transfer. The advertising billboards were incorporated into façades structure to avoid destraction of the building image with randomness of their location.
Architects from “Atrium” also designed public interior spaces.
