Green Port, reconstruction of former cargo port in Volgograd

Atrium offered five types of dwelling for the new development on the site of former cargo port. The idea was to create comfortable situation of coexistence for citizens of different ages, interests and incomes. Towers consist of small studios, which can be interesting for young people. The most expensive apartments are in the 6-storey buildings situated in the first line. These houses include 2-storey villas with private gardens. Thus, every offered type has its own composition of apartments of different areas, characteristics of view, etc.

A couple of historical buildings were retained, one of them suggested for a public retail and recreational use. There was an idea to create a long public promenade on the bank of Volga-river within the project of a new district on the site of former cargo port. Therefore, the public center is the main accent of the embankment. It is placed in the geometrical center of the pedestrian route. Architects use old warehouse as a part of site history but extend it with contemporary dynamic shape. The new part opens to the river with a huge multi-storey window framed in folded envelope, which creates terraces in some parts.
