The Centre for Innovative Sports Technologies and National Teams of Moskomsport is dedicated to training the country’s top athletes using the most advanced equipment available. In order to reflect this high-performance mission in the interior, the architects turned to dynamic forms, a contrasting colour palette and sharp, expressive junctions in the design of the entrance area, which is also visible from outside the building.

Two bespoke counters — the reception desk and the café counter in the waiting area — were custom designed to align with the overall spatial concept. The project also takes into account the fact that the entrance area is visible from the second-floor mezzanine: a compact double-height atrium creates a sense of spaciousness despite the modest size of the room. The swimming pool is also located on the ground floor, with windows facing the street. It is equipped with specialised technology that allows athletes to train in non-standard conditions.

The largest volume within the Centre is the athletics hall, which contains a full-size running track and has a ceiling height of around 10 metres. Training sessions can be observed through the glazed wall of the director’s office. Along the height of the hall, there are two levels of administrative spaces, with the director’s office located on the upper level, from where it has a clear view across the hall. The structural shell of the hall has been left exposed, allowing the architecture of the building to be experienced more directly. The elongated vertical windows also frame views towards the residential buildings nearby.

The architecture of the administrative block continues the overall theme of dynamism through the sharp-angled junctions of the partitions, as well as through the graphic treatment of the floors and walls.
