Private house near Volgo lake
The picturesque place determines the superidea: architecture should be invisible. The building is "deep rooted" into the site that's practically sunken into the hill.

The beauty of Valdai nature also dictates the functional dominant: the house as a viewpoint. All the windows look out at the water. Shared rooms are on the second floor. For the reason of wishing to be closer to the nature not only visually, one can exit the house by stepping on the ground from any level, and in winter not only by stepping but by sliding down the roof on sled. An ordinary terrace with a fireplace turns into a nothern patio: it's coziness contrasts with openness, thus symbolizing the typical features of the national character. This is a "distant summer residence" and therefore all the guestures here are wide. The boulder masonry is made in so-called "Solovetz" style, and the whitewashed brickwork seems to be a fragment of a monastery tower.
